Former CNN anchor Lynne Russell and her husband, former CNN reporter, Chuck De Caro, were involved in a deadly shootout at an Albuquerque Motel 6 that left one man dead.
The couple was staying at the roadside motel Tuesday night when Russell went to retrieve something from their vehicle and was confronted by a robber. The suspect pointed a gun at her abdomen and pulled her into the room. De Caro then engaged into a shootout with the man.
Police say the suspect was found in the motel parking lot. He was transported to a hospital where he later died. De Caro was found inside the motel room and was taken to a hospital. He is expected to recover. Russell says she and her husband were driving from Washington D.C. to California and stopped for the night at the motel. She says they brought a gun just in case. h/t kron4
Police said they do not believe the couple was targeted for who they were.
