WJW Channel 8’s morning newscast was today absent a certain female anchor who used a racially charged term on-air Monday while describing Lady Gaga‘s Oscars performance.
Anchor, Kristi Capel, a former Miss Missouri USA winner, was suspended for three days for using the term “jigaboo” in reference to Gaga’s “The Sound Of Music” performance.
The Cleveland Fox affiliate released a brief statement confirming the anchor’s banishment: “Kristi Capel will not be anchoring ‘Fox 8 News in the Morning’ for the remainder of the week.”
The station did not say if Capel is being paid during her time out. She began her duties at Channel 8 in early 2011. She became the morning news co-anchor in early 2012.
