The trains collided in what is being called a “major derailment” at about 6:10 p.m. when an eastbound train out of New Haven hit a westbound train on the adjacent track. The collision happened near Commerce Avenue and State Street, in between the Fairfield and Bridgeport stations.There are scanner reports of injuries and multiple ambulances are on the scene.
