Pope Francis has taken a major step in solving a huge problem, he’s prudently moved the issue away from that river formerly know as “denial” – by now calling for “decisive action” in the fight against abuse of minors involving priests.
Talking to Bishop Gerhard Mueller, head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith – the progressive Pope made his first public statement on the growing list of clerical improprieties, noted in a Vatican statement;
The Pope urged Bishop Mueller to “act decisively as far as cases of abuse are concerned, promoting, above all, measures to protect minors, help for those who have suffered such violence in the past (and) the necessary procedures against those who are guilty”.
