I am trying to write but the tears of laughter keep welling up in my eyes! Pennsylvania county schools were placed under lockdown after a student’s voicemail greeting of the “Fresh Prince of Bel Air” theme song was thought to be the prelude to another school shooting… Why you say?

An eye doctor receptionist with perfectly good peepers but not-so-good ears, called a student to confirm an appointment, and when the student didn’t pick up, the receptionist’s call went to voicemail, and that is when she heard the disturbing Will Smith inspired theme, “Shooting some b-ball outside of the school,” the receptionist heard it as “Shooting PEOPLE outside of the school.” Hence the laughter.

Schools across PA were forced into lockdown as police searched for the offending student. Cops located him and discovered he was “chilling out, maxing, relaxing all cool” in the guidance office of Ambridge’s high school, which then was swarmed by officers who took him down and into custody.

“He was afraid and embarrassed,” said a police rep. “Obviously staff at the doctor’s office was embarrassed about the whole thing too.”

School officials sent a letter home to parents saying that the “false alarm” could be seen as a positive.

“As always, the safety of our students and staff are at the forefront of our concern,”he wrote. “While this situation can be considered to be a false alarm, it was an excellent opportunity to test our emergency procedures. The procedures in place were efficient and quickly implemented and proved to be successful.”

The student’s father thinks school officials over-reacted,

“An innocent young man was embarrassed,” he told the Beaver County Times. “How is he supposed to go back to school and face his classmates?”
