Adam Lambert came out of hiding just long enough to slam new movie Les Miserables on Twitter saying, although it was a visual delight, producers should have employed actors with good voices.
“Les Mis: Visually impressive w great Emotional performances. But the score suffered massively with great actors PRETENDING to be singers,” Lambert wrote on Twitter.
His comments drew a firestorm of attention, forcing the former ‘American Idol’ tart to issue an apology for being so honest. He did not take anything he said back.
Although the movie starring Anne Hathaway and Russell Crowe has been universally acclaimed — it obviously wasn’t Lambert’s cup of tea…
“It’s an opera. Hollywoods movie musicals treat the singing as the last priority. (Dreamgirls was good).”
He even had time to offer advice to the music producers, “should have studio recorded and sweetened the vocals” of the actors in the musical.
“The industry will say ‘these actors were so brave to attempt singing this score live’ but why not cast actors who could actually sound good?” Lambert concluded.
By the way, why don’t they ever hire Lambert for any of these gigs? Could be that is hard to work with? I don’t know, I’m asking.
