Okay firstly, Mr. Bean is not a real person? I’m crushed! The British actor famous for playing comedy icon, Mr. Bean, says he’s ready to kill-off the lovable character because playing him has become – “childish and sad” – Really? It took this long to come to that revelation?
Rowan Atkinson found himself a golden goose in his character Mr. been, which played on British TV for five years, spawn two successful movies and a cartoon spinoff, but all good things must come to an end as now Ackinson views the character a liability, “The stuff that has been most commercially successful for me – basically quite physical, quite childish – I increasingly feel I’m going to do a lot less of. Apart from the fact that your physical ability starts to decline, I also think someone in their 50s being childlike becomes a little sad. You’ve got to be careful.”
At 57, Atkinson’s challenge lies in landing more serious acting jobs while still having the face of Mr. Bean.
Anyway, I think he may have called the game a little early on the beloved Bean considering his most recent grand appearance was at the Opening Ceremony of London’s Olympic Games just this summer!
