LONGVIEW, Washington State. — Oregon State University researchers are reporting bluefin tuna caught off-shore in Washington State contain radioactive cesium. Researchers say the tainted fish are a result of last year’s Japanese nuclear reactor disaster.
Of course, researchers are saying that the amount of radiation is way too small to harm us people.
University and federal scientists caught and tested fish before and after the March 2011 Japanese earthquake and tsunami that caused a nuclear reactor to release radioactive material.
In May, researchers in California found traces of radioactive cesium in bluefin tuna caught off the southern coast.
