Man Discovers $45,000 in Newly Purchased Home

Josh Ferrin picked up the keys to his family’s new home in the Salt Lake City suburb of Bountiful earlier this week and upon a further inspection of the garage, found $45,000 in cash, stashed in eight World War II ammunition cases.

Ferrin quickly took the boxes to his parents’ home to count along with his wife and children. And although he thought about how far that amount of money could go to help his own family he also thought about the home’s previous owner, Arnold Bangerter, who had passed away in November, leaving the house to his kids.

Ferrin called one of Bangerter’s sons with the news after being quoted as saying, “But the money wasn’t ours to keep… that is a lesson I hope to teach my children.”

Kim Bangerter knew his father stashed money, but had no idea it was of this amount. He called the money’s return, “a story that will outlast our generation and probably yours’ as well.”

Photos: Lisa Mason Lee’s Florida Family Vacation

My family vacation in Panama City Beach, Florida has been fun and relaxing. My parents and I are doing as little as possible! Our highlights of the day are laying by the pool and beach, working out and eating fresh seafood for dinner! We hit the mall occasionally for yogurt and to play at the funpark.

Last night we got to meet up with my Cousin Michael and his family in Destin, FL. We found out that the fam was staying just a town over from us, so we made plans for dinner. Michael cooked us a homemade dinner- Seafood Gumbo, a side of fresh grilled Jumbo Shrimp, an assorted Olive Salad and real Key Lime Pie for dessert! We were quite surprised by his cooking skills!

Michael’s wife Liliana took some photos with her amazing Nikon camera. I don’t know what the model or make is, but every photo looks studio quality. Thanks Lili! Here our some photos from our trip so far:

jessicaalba xboy1 150x200 Jessica Alba High School Ex Banking Off Her

So then, Lakkees figures ‘why not try to help other couples stay together, or help decide if couples should split, by creating an online jury for the public to decide couples’ fate… and also hitch a ride on Alba’s coattails.

Over the Top? Great Art Was Born That Way

lady gaga egg Over the Top? Great Art Was Born That Way

There’s been a bit of an attitude- a condescending, chuckling, eye-rolling sort of business- towards theatricality in popular music, and to be honest, that’s a bit puzzling.

Great music has come in all forms over the years, from the uplifting and soothing, to the angry and incendiary. But great art has sprung from dispensing with safety.

The Beatles wrote timeless songs that we will cherish forever, but Sgt. Pepper is the record that we refer to when we want to describe the innovation of the band. David Bowie’s music has been immortalized in everything from Pepsi commercials to Flight of the Conchords, but without Ziggy Stardust, we might not have Lady Gaga.

Which brings me to the point- even if you don’t particularly enjoy a certain artist’s work, you must respect when that artist casts caution to the winds and takes a swing- a big swing. Because without the strikes, we wouldn’t have the home runs of Tommy, The Wall or The Amsterdam Bed-In.

Still, despite history’s proof that time lends credence to the epic grandeur of musical theatricality, there is scoffing.  Fans of current dispassionately ironically retro bands that seem to almost smirk at their own efforts find comfort in the fact that the musicians they listen to are as cynical and emotionally impassive as they themselves.  They say Lady Gaga is a ball of overblown antics, My Chemical Romance is a kids’ emo band, and 30 Seconds to Mars is an oversexed actor’s vanity project.

What they fail to see is the passion- Whether it hits or misses, the raw emotion that these artists bravely lay bare for their listeners is what keeps those ears riveted.

When Gaga climbed into a plastic egg and was carted off by her retinue, she was completely aware that she was opening herself up to ridicule and derision.

When Gerard Way and company decided that they would assume the colorful identities and ray guns of the Fabulous Killjoys to make a conceptual post-apocalytic record and comic book, they did so with the full knowledge that many would write it off as childish and pandering to a young crowd.

When Jared Leto wrapped women in leather and ball gags for 30 Seconds to Mars’ video ‘Hurricane’, he knew that some would decry it as shock tactics and narcissism.

What all the critics failed to realize is that even IF each of those efforts was exactly what they accused them of being- they were all still victories.

Because NO ONE was apathetic- People formed opinions.

They were made to think, to argue, to discuss, to admire, to recoil. Listeners and viewers were challenged, and in the end, that is what elevates mere media to art.

If we are to find expression for and make sense of our  increasingly confused emotions, in an increasingly complex world, we must embrace the pioneers who are willing to put their hearts on their sleeves for us and give voice to the complicated feelings we harbor about society, values, and our relations to each other amidst the rapid changes in both. We cannot settle for merely being entertained. We should seek to be edified. Unless we want to become touch-screen humans in a digital world.

The good news is- there is a growing number of people who are realizing the dangers and are opening their minds to performance art and musical theatricality as a vital expression of our humanity for posterity.

So up and coming artists- write that rock opera about artificial intelligence. Glue tapioca to your face and tap dance in blue paint.  Create sculptures out of recycled toilet paper that you cover with chocolate sauce while the gallery plays your new CD in the background. Die your hair pink and sing blues songs with symphonic metal tendencies in your indie web series;).

The world may not always get it, but it will be watching…and listening.

Arnold The Horn Dog, Are We Really Surprised?

New Picture 22 150x200 Arnold The Horn Dog, Are We Really Surprised?

I thought it was pretty lousy news when it was announced the Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver were splitting up. They appeared very happy with each other. The split shook a lot of people.

The shock increased when it was announced a few days ago that Arnold fathered a child more than a decade ago with a long-time family employee. And finding out all the details from Mildred Patricia Baena takes all of this to a whole new level. According to recent reports Arnold only fessed up to Maria about 4 weeks ago, which led to the initial separation. What still isn’t clear is whether or not she suspected anything over the last 6 or 7 years since Arnold found out.

According to TMZ sources, Arnold came clean after leaving office in California. Shriver is said to be positioning herself with a financial advisor in preparation for a divorce.

Some couples can get past a thing like this, and some couples can’t. I admire those who would choose to figure it all out, and I don’t blame those who would call it quits. It’s a complex issue and truly there’s no one-size fits all. It might have been easier if Baena had stayed out of the press.

This is far from the first of the Baby-Daddinator’s indiscretions. If you recall his 2003 election campaign, you may recall Gropegate, where a half dozen women spoke to an LA Times reporter about having been groped and harassed by Mr. Schwarzenegger. And Arnold didn’t even deny it at the time. And more recently Gigi Goyette has come out saying that she had an affair with Arnold in the late 90′s (after he was married) and that she was only one of about a dozen women at the time.

Maria Shriver, the daughter of Sargent Shriver and Eunice Kennedy Shriver, is a no-nonsense woman who’s showing her mettle. Something like this brings the entire past decade into question. How much of it was a lie? What can I believe? Why would I ever stay with him? Maria Shriver certainly doesn’t need Arnold in her life to be the strong, self-reliant woman that she is.

Commenting on the situation, Shriver admits she is distraught and asks for “compassion, respect and privacy,” for her and her children.

Not everyone has the luxury of having zero tolerance for anything less than 100 percent commitment. Most of us have to accept that a certain amount of nonsense and deceit will be present in our lives. I don’t envy her current position, but certainly it’s liberating to be able to say no and no more.

Photo: Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Baby Mama and Love Child

Did you hear? Arnold Schwarzenegger impregnated he and Maria Shriver’s maid 14 years ago, and out came a son. The news broke finally, and that is why the Sperminator and Shriver are splitting! This was one heck of a secret- wow!

Mildred Patty Baena was their maid for many years, and also, The Groper’s other kind of maid. Shriver had been in the dark about this scandal for 14 years, and Arnold has been quite aware of the son- even so aware, he has taken care of the child’s finances ever since he was born… And the maid- she’s been all smiles and in secret ever since. Reports say that ‘she thinks Arnold is great and she’s cool about the whole thing’!

MCR Gerard Way Places Song in GLEE Then Insults Show

Looks like My Chemical Romance frontman, Gerard Way is trying to do some damage control after it was announced the MCR song, “Sing” will appear in an episode of the popular FOX series GLEE.

Could it be Way is trying to protect his underground fan base by knocking HIS placement of HIS music in a huge corporate TV show? I can hear the chants of “SELLOUT” already cropping up.

Way Tried to play off the fact his single ‘Sign’ will be featured on Glee by saying, “We wanted to get in that pop world and do some damage. ‘Sing’ is an anthem attacking corporate society, and there it is on Glee.” OUCH!

I am happy for MCR and I think it’s totally cool they will be complimenting the hit TV show with their own music, what I don’t like is a spoiled rockstar trying to act like an accomplishment like this is something to be apologized for.

One thing I know for sure, Way will cash the sweet Glee money check!

CONFIRMED! Ashton Kutcher: New Man on Two and a Half Men!

UPDATE: It has now been confirmed! Wow this rumor is really picking up steam, as in it may actually be true!

Ashton Kutcher may IS filling the void on “Two and a Half Men” and I must say I think he makes a fantastic replacement for the rollCharlie Sheen stupidly squandered.

CBS won’t comment directly to a purported contract Kutcher just signed that will ink him to a 3 year deal on “Men” along side Chuck Lorre, Warner Bros. and the entire gang at CBS.

Kutcher delivered a cryptic Tweet Thursday night that left fans wondering if he was confirming the deal, the Tweet read, “”what’s the square root of 6.25?” The answer is 2.5, as in “two and a half.”

Metal: Women not Weapons

Eve's AppleWho says women can’t get along?

Apparently, a lot of people.  In the workplace, women craftily bully underlings, while schools report female bullying is on the rise to an alarming degree. And social networking is rampant with mean girl antics that would have astonished our mothers.

On the dating scene, the blame is placed on the disproportionate ratio of eligible men to single women. In professional settings, it is noted that there are, many times, so few ‘spots’ for women in the ‘upper ranks’ that any newcomer is seen as a threat to the women in those spots. So they protect their territories- with gusto.

It seems in every facet of society, women are struggling to find harmony- and, no pun intended, the music world is no different.  However, it seems one group of women have found the key to unity- and they are using it to give back.

Eve’s Apple is an international community of female singers in the metal, rock and goth genres. Twenty-four professional musicians, from twelve different nations, make up the group. They have various degrees of fame among them, but all are equal in their “orchard”. Their goal is to support each other, support the music, and, perhaps most importantly, support the young women coming up in the music business.

There was skepticism in the beginning from those who wondered- can a group of ‘divas’ put aside egos and notoriety to accomplish anything worthwhile?

The answer was a resounding “YES!”  They began to  publish articles of advice, experience, tips and relevant news, all authored by the members themselves, and introduce their large following to new bands and singers that showed promise. Most recently, they put their creative powers together and produced a compilation CD, “The Siren’s Garden”, which features 13 tracks by various Apples. Released digitally on iTunes, the compilation’s proceeds will be donated to The Shropshire Music Foundation, which: “provides free musical instruments and instruction to former child soldiers and refugees in some of the world’s most wartorn places: Uganda, Kosovo, and Northern Ireland. Since 1999, [they] have taught more than 10,000 young people that through music they can bring healing, hope, and peace to their communities.”

Eve’s Apple continues to use its unity to help end division. Regardless of nationality, genre, age, or status, the women cheer each others’ successes, support in each others’ struggles, and do all of it with deep respect and great love.

Because in the end – can’t we all just get along?
