The documentary “Waiting for Superman” shined a light on the deteriorating state on the public education system. I’m not sure if Snoop Dogg’s upcoming film “High School” will add to the debate, but I’m sure it won’t revolve around tenure teachers.
The rap legend teams with up-and-comer Wiz Khalifa in what Snoop describes as “a comedy stoner movie, a little something for the stoners”, according to Billboard.com. Filming for the film is to start in early May.
While it’s unknown if Reefer will be known as the fourth ‘R, Snoop was very clear on his respect for Pittsburgh MC. The friendship grew out of working together on a remix for Khalifa. “And from the remix, we became close friends and spent time together…[we] made six or seven songs and created an idea to do a movie and a soundtrack, and just a bond — to build a friendship and build a brotherhood.”
The newfound friends will be friendly rivals as both rappers release albums on Mar. 29th. Snoop releases “Doggumentary”, billed as the sequel to his 1993 debut “Doggystyle”. The 21 track album features collaborations with Bootsy Collins, Kanye West, John Legend, T-Pain, Gorillaz and others. Khalifa debuts “Rolling Papers” which is his first major label project.
