Famous Fox News host Mike Huckabee did an interview with radio host Michael Medved on Monday, and a certain controversial part of the interview has taken all week to roll up into flames! Now the topic is blazing in the media!

Huckabee, the former Arkansas Governor, began to talk about his new book “A Simple Government” on the talk show, which reveals his thoughts on the importance of being married and having children. He was then asked what he thought about Natalie Portman’s out-of-wedlock pregnancy. Huckabee said he thought that Portman’s pregnancy was “troubling.”

Huckabee went on to say, “It’s unfortunate that we glorify and glamorize the idea [of having children without being married]“.

Huckabee said it’s as if Portman is portraying this image that it’s okay to get pregnant, a.k.a. knocked up, and not be married. Huckabee said it’s as if she’s sending this message to the public: “Hey look, you know, we’re having children, we’re not married, but we’re having these children, and they’re doing just fine.” Huckabee then goes onto saying that the reality of being pregnant and single for most women out there is not easy, nor is it glamorous! He continued: “… But there aren’t really a lot of single moms out there who are making millions of dollars every year for being in a movie. Most single moms are very poor, uneducated, can’t get a job, and if it weren’t for government assistance, their kids would be starving to death and never have health care. And that’s the story that we’re not seeing.”

Huckabee ended this topic with some staggering statistics about how many children are born out of wedlock. ”You know, right now, 75 percent of black kids in this country are born out of wedlock. 61 percent of Hispanic kids — across the board, 41 percent of all live births in America are out of wedlock births. And the cost of that is simply staggering,” Huckabee said.

Since this interview, Huckabee has been trying to do damage control saying that he wasn’t dissing Portman, and that he’s glad she is engaged to be married during her current pregnancy.
