Italian Town to Ban Miniskirts!

Mayor Luigi Bobbio of little town ‘Castellammare di Stabia’ near Naples, Italy, is trying to ban miniskirts. I said miniskirts! Short skirts! Bobbio wants them to be banned from the town! That’s not all! The ban that he is trying to pass would also cover outfits that show too much cleavage and low-rise jeans. If the law passes, and you wear these clothing items, you would then be fined anywhere from $35-$700.

My Mom remembers when girls in school were only allowed to wear skirts and dresses, until 1971 rolled around, then my Mom said girl could start wearing “pant suits”- like a vest with matching pants. Guys of course wore pants always, but no jeans and no shorts were allowed for either male or female.

At my high school they let us wear shorts, skirts and jeans, and they wanted our shorts and skirts to be no shorter than our fingertips. Thank goodness we had some freedom in that teenage prison!

Anyway, here we are in 2010 and this Luigi Bobbio dude wants to ban miniskirts!? Now the small town is going to be really boring especially for men! Luigi says the restrictions would “restore urban decorum and facilitate better civil co-existence” in the town near Naples.

How bout a good old fashioned bra n’ skirt burning from the girls!? Uprise ladies! Uprise!
