Maybe Tyler Perry made a deal with the devil. You start to wonder how the man does it when all of his movies are huge hits. Perry pulled off another success this weekend, with his new film I Can Do Bad All by Myself pulling in an estimated $24 million. The film cleaned up at the box office, proving to the film maker’s seventh consecutive hit film.
Also doing well this weekend was the animated film 9, which brought in $10.9 million. The film cost about $24 million to make so, combined with its international numbers, it’s close to making its money back. I saw it and was rather impressed by the animation. The story? Not so much.
The other new releases, Whiteout and Sorority Row, bombed in their opening weekends. Sorry Kate Beckinsale.
So what’s next for Tyler Perry? Why Did I Get Married Too? due this spring.
