The Beastie Boys (Adam Yauch is on the left)
Beastie Boys member Adam Yauch, a.k.a MCA, has been diagnosed with a cancerous tumor inside his salivary gland. The legendary rap group will delay the release of their upcoming album, Hot Sauce Committee Part 1, and tour so Yauch can get the tumor removed and recover.
Two members of the group released a video via their website today explaining the latest news. Yauch says that the tumor was found early and is totally treatable. In fact, he seemed to be in relatively high spirits considering the situation. He said he had felt sick for awhile, saw a doctor a couple weeks ago and just recently got the results. He is expected to recover and his voice will not be affected.
Still, it’s sad to hear that one of the greatest rappers of our time is sick. Luckily, it doesn’t look life threatening and the guys should be back performing soon enough. Our positive thoughts go out to Adam and all the Beastie Boys, as well as their families. Feel better Adam!
