The City of Los Angeles is coming under fire for the Emergency Management Department’s expenditure of $48,826 on 3,500 lunches purchased from “Jensen’s Finest” for first responders during the memorial. The person who would normally approve such costs, Controller Wendy Greuel, said since the amount was under $100,000 and classified under the “operating in an emergency,” stipulation, it was automatically approved.
Many attending the service noticed a glut of law enforcement deployed to secure and control the Jackson event. At times there were more cops then people. I was there from start to finish and never saw anything that would amount to an emergency.
The city of implemented the use of it scariest vehicles, ranging from several amour plated Hummer type conversions, complete with machine gun toting cops hanging out the back, to a quad type mini-cop car. Countless mounted cops lined the street, looking very bored.
It was painfully obvious the madness the city envisioned never materialized, by a long shot, at least they ate well.
