LINCOLN, NE. (THECOUNT) — Heather Bodfield has been identified as the victim in a fatal single-vehicle crash in Lincoln, Nebraska on Thursday.

Lincoln Police identified the 26-year-old “transient,” as the victim of the crash that occurred near 77 Street & A Street, in Lincoln, NE early Thursday morning, according to officials.

A passerby called Lincoln Police to report finding the crash scene shortly before 1 a.m.

Upon arrival, police located Bodfield deceased in a vehicle prompting a shutdown of A Street to investigate.

Bodfield was pronounce dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

“The preliminary investigation shows the vehicle was westbound on A street and left the roadway for an unknown reason and collided with a tree,” Captain Ben Kopsa said Thursday.

It’s unclear how long the car had been there, or what caused the driver to veer off the road, reports KLKNTV.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the woman’s official cause of death.

The investigation into the cause of the crash remains open.

In May of 2018, Bodfield was cited during a traffic stop for carrying a concealed weapon and theft by receiving.
