AUGUSTA, GA. (THECOUNT) — Jack Fields has been identified as the suspect shot and killed by a Richmond County deputy who was stabbed during the incident.

Fields, 25, stabbed a Richmond County deputy who returned fire killing the suspect.

The deadly incident occurred near the Residence Inn by Marriott Augusta, on Marks Church Road, around 8:11 p.m. on Thursday.

Agents say the deputy involved was dispatched to the hotel on a ‘trouble with subject’ call around 8:00 p.m. Once on the scene, the suspect involved reportedly started stabbing the deputy. The deputy then shot the suspect, who died on the scene. The exchange took place in the hotel lobby area.

Fields’ body is in the process of being transported to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy.

The Richmond County Coroner’s Office has released the name of a suspect who was shot and killed by a deputy Thursday night after stabbing him. 25-year-old Jack Darrel Fields, Jr., died at the scene Thursday night. source
