Via KSP news release:

Troopers responded to the area in search of Hammonds and found someone matching his description driving an ATV at approximately 1:45 pm. The initial investigation alleges that when Troopers stopped to confront the suspect, he pulled out a gun and shot at them, at which time they returned fire. The shooter ran into the woods, and was last seen wearing a black sleeveless shirt and camo pants. A thorough search of the area was conducted throughout the afternoon and evening, however the suspect was not located. No Troopers were injured during the shooting, and it is unknown if the suspect sustained any injuries.
