Thousands are in the dark, without power, in trendy Studio City after a transformer exploded Wednesday evening.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, about 8,700 customers are without power in the Studio City area.

Former tennis star James Blake was on his way to the U.S. Open in Queens Wednesday when he was tackled and detained by police in what they call “a case of mistaken identity.”
Blake, who is black, told reporters he was tackled and cuffed outside the NYC Grand Hyatt by a group of white, plainclothes police officers.
We have to admit, they do share a striking resemblance. After the incident the NYPD issued a statement,

A judge sentenced Daniele Watts and her boyfriend, Brian Lucas, to 15 hours of community labor after deeming their court imposed apology letters insincere.
The Django Unchained actress has been ordered to perform community labor after a judge refused to buy the couple’s apologies to Los Angeles police she’d accused of racial profiling.

Daniele Watts, the “Django Unchained” actress who accused an LAPD officer of racism after being detained for public lewdness, was in the end ordered by a judge to apologize.
Watts, who appeared in court, pled no contest to disturbing the peace. In exchange for her plea, the more serious criminal charges were dropped. The actress was then ordered to complete 40 hours of community service and write an apology letter to Sgt. Parker and his two partners.
Watts and her boyfriend were in a car outside the CBS Studios in the San Fernando Valley last September when people in a nearby office building called cops to complain they were having relations in the car. Continue reading

The “Empire” star had accused a Glendale cop of profiling her son during a traffic stop, but Glendale cops retorted by releasing dash cam video of the stop, which depicts the world’s most polite traffic stop, in other words, the cop could not have been nicer. Taraji’s son, Marcel Johnson was stopped over a crosswalk violation and possession of Ritalin without a prescription.

Now this is embarrassing.. Civil rights leaders have officially called for actress Daniele Watts to apologize to the L.A.P.D. after she lied, claimed was racially profiled and illegally detained.
Earl Ofari Hutchinson of the Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable said the L.A.P.D. acted appropriately while adding Watts had lied..
“Don’t make us look dumb,” Hutchison said. “Don’t make yourself look stupid. Because when you do that, you totally do a disservice to what we consider is still a compelling, major, deadly issue, and that’s racial profiling.” Continue reading

Mayweather, currently on tour to promote his upcoming rematch with Marcos Maidana, accused a NBC reporter of racial profiling after she asked a question about their relationship.

The rapper turned preacher paints a very story than that of police saying he was racially profiled. claiming an officer immediately drew this sidearm and asked, “Are you on parole or probation?”
Hammer was booked and released from Santa Rita Jail in Dublin, CA after he was popped for obstructing an officer in the performance of their duties and resisting an officer.But Hammer went on Twitter this morning and his version of events is shocking. He claims the encounter started when a cop tapped on his car window and asked him, “Are you on parole or probation?” Hammer thought it was all a joke until “he pulled out his guns, blew his whistle and yelled for help.” Hammer summed it all up by saying, “only thing more dangerous than a scared man with a gun, is a scared man with an agenda, a gun and a badge.
