DAMAGE CONTROL: Ryan Lochte Hires Justin Bieber’s CRISIS PR Guy

Suddenly find your career in tatters after some sort of major indiscretion? Like telling the world (via your mommy) that you got robbed at gun point when you were really on a late night bender? Better call crisis PR guru Matthew Hiltzik. In what could be noted as his only good move in days, Ryan Lochte has done just that.

Lochte, 32, has officially hired Hiltzik Strategies to deal with the intense fallout following his now infamous “look mom! I got robbed at the 2016 Rio Olympics!

“Hiltzik has helped celebrities including Justin Bieber, Harvey Weinstein and Alec Baldwin in the past,” The Wrap’s Brian Flood wrote. “Hiltzik also works with troubled athletes — he helped MLB star Ryan Braun when he was accused of using performance-enhancing drugs. Continue reading

Te’o Deletes Twitter Account

I’m not exactly sure how Te’o, turned this into something against Twitter especially when communicating with other human beings seems to be the order of the day…

Manti_Teo_Deletes_Twitter_Account_NFL_Draft_Status

It was Twitter that ultimately turned Manti Te’o from just another talented college football linebacker into a digital-age version of Icarus. So it’s not all that stunning that Te’o would give his account the Lennay Kekua treatment and make it disappear.

Te’o did just that on Sunday afternoon, shutting down his Twitter account.

According to Darren Rovell of ESPN, a source says Te’o will “be off for an indefinite period of time to prepare for the NFL Draft.”

It’s a wise move by Te’o, really. He deleted his Twitter account during the Super Bowl and no one really noticed until, well, Wednesday.

He can’t possibly tweet anything of real value at this point. Anything he says or does will be scrutinized heavily and, because the Internet is a hateful place, mocked ruthlessly.

The real questions will come at the combine, where Te’o will be grilled by teams interested in potentially drafting him and by reporters should he choose to participate in drills. (My guess: he won’t. We’ll see.)

Te’o’s 2013 NFL Draft stock’s taken a hit over the last month: he had the fake-girlfriend-catfish scandal and the disaster of a game against Alabama in the BCS Championship Game.

Whereas he was once hyped-up enough to land in the top part of the draft, both Rob Rang and Dane Brugler of NFLDraftScout.com have Te’o landing to the Ravens at No. 32 overall.

The logic there, of course, involves replacing Ray Lewis. But the bigger concern could be how Ravens veterans treat Te’o if he ended up in Baltimore.

I like Te’o and I think he has a lot of likability in general! So don’t sweat it dude! Closing down your twitter is the equivalent of Britney Spears shaving off her hair!! Be cool!

Dr Phil Scores First Interview With TE’o Mastermind Ronaiah

I guess the days of Barbara Walters getting all the huge scoop interviews are over! Because it’s just been announced that Dr. Phil will be the first to interview the mastermind behind the Te’o faux girlfriend hoax.

Dr. Phil just scored HUGE — TMZ has learned, he’s landed the first on-camera interview with the alleged mastermind behind the Manti Te’o girlfriend hoax … Ronaiah Tuiasosopo.

Sources tell us, Phil and Ronaiah sat together for several hours yesterday in L.A., where they discussed Manti’s interview with Katie Couric … after watching the entire interview together.

According to sources, Phil’s interview with Ronaiah is “emotional and deep.” It’s expected to air some time next week.

Ronaiah has yet to address the public about his alleged involvement in the Manti hoax — even though Manti has already said Ronaiah privately confessed to concocting the whole thing.

TMZ broke the story … Ronaiah had intense feelings for Manti — feelings he channeled through the female persona of “Lennay Kekua” … Manti’s fake girlfriend.

Interesting … two female oriented daytime talk shows have snagged the key interviews in a football scandal. tmz

Prankster Lured Gullible Linebacker To ‘Breathe With Dying GF’ During 8 Hour Phone Calls

Assuming Notre Dame linebacker, Manti Te’o, wasn’t in on the hoax, who ever the prankster is, may have just pulled off one of the world’s greatest pranks, the girlfriend of complete fiction. Now get this! It is reported that Te’o was coaxed to stay on the phone for over eight hours at a time, “breathing with” his nonexistent dying girlfriend… To help keep her alive!

I don’t know about you but this conjures up some hilarious images. This big, burly football player on the telephone, breathing, as if he were breathing life into a terminally ill person, only there’s no person on the other end, only a prankster who probably set the phone down and partied, checking the line periodically for, you guessed it, breathing.

This is so damn embarrassing! Te’o should admit that he is in on the conspiracy and that this was all some grand scheme to win the Heisman trophy and the championship, neither of which happened…

Star College Football’s Manti Te’o HOAX Of A Dead GF!

This is a weird one, all year Manti Te’o, Notre Dame’s star linebacker told a heart wrenching story about his girlfriend dying on the same day as his grandma, problem is, there was never any girlfriend… “The Most Heartbreaking And Inspirational Story Of The College Football Season, Is A Hoax, says deadspin.”

Notre Dame’s Manti Te’o, the stories said, played this season under a terrible burden. A Mormon linebacker who led his Catholic school’s football program back to glory, Te’o was whipsawed between personal tragedies along the way. In the span of six hours in September, as Sports Illustrated told it, Te’o learned first of the death of his grandmother, Annette Santiago, and then of the death of his girlfriend, Lennay Kekua.

Kekua, 22 years old, had been in a serious car accident in California, and then had been diagnosed with leukemia. SI’s Pete Thamel described how Te’o would phone her in her hospital room and stay on the line with her as he slept through the night. “Her relatives told him that at her lowest points, as she fought to emerge from a coma, her breathing rate would increase at the sound of his voice,” Thamel wrote.

Upon receiving the news of the two deaths, Te’o went out and led the Fighting Irish to a 20-3 upset of Michigan State, racking up 12 tackles. It was heartbreaking and inspirational. Te’o would appear on ESPN’s College GameDay to talk about the letters Kekua had written him during her illness. He would send a heartfelt letter to the parents of a sick child, discussing his experience with disease and grief. The South Bend Tribune wrote an article describing the young couple’s fairytale meeting—she, a Stanford student; he, a Notre Dame star—after a football game outside Palo Alto.

Did you enjoy the uplifiting story, the tale of a man who responded to adversity by becoming one of the top players of the game? If so, stop reading.
