New Jimi Hendrix Track Ft. Buddy Miles and Stephen Stills

What a treat! A brand-new Jimi Hendrix track! The song, entitled “Somewhere” really gives you a glimpse into how Jimi’s style was evolving at the time of his death. Believe it or not, a dozen or so Hendrix tracks are about to debut on a single episode of TV show Hawaii Five-O.

Rolling Stone:

On March 5th, 12 previously unreleased Jimi Hendrix recordings from 1968 and 1969 will be available as People, Hell and Angels. The legendary guitarist was experimenting with new sounds and musical directions for First Rays of the New Rising Sun, the planned double-album follow-up to Electric Ladyland, and on “Somewhere,” Hendrix sits down with Buddy Miles on drums and Stephen Stills on bass for a far-reaching psychedelic blues jam. Recorded in 1968, “Somewhere” rides signature Hendrix wails, long exploratory solos and free-flowing wordplay. Rolling Stone’s Greatest Guitarist of All Time shows why he’s earned that title with unparalleled skill and eternally innovative sounds, but “Somewhere” suggests his most complex work may have only been ahead of him.

Good News: Andre 3000 As Jimi Hendrix in Biopic

Rolling Stone is reporting André 3000 is all set to play Jimi Hendrix in a biopic named All Is by My Side. It’s been a long time a coming and according to the Irish Film and Television Network the film is currently in preproduction in Wicklow, Ireland.

The film will scan Hendrix’s early career through 1966 and 1967. John Ridley, who penned Three Kings and 1997’s U Turn, is writing and directing the film.

Last summer there was some scuttlebutt about Hendrix’s estate trying to stop the project from moving forward but because the film is now in pre-production, we can surmise that the issues have been resolved.

I have to admit that I’m a bit excited about seeing how this one turns out!
