Missing Vernon Woman Carissa Caron Found Dead Wednesday Report RCMP ‘Not Suspicious’

VERNON, CAN. (THECOUNT) — RCMP have found the body of missing Vernon woman, Carissa Caron. She was 50.

The Vernon, North Okanagan, BC, Canada resident was found dead on Wednesday, according to Thursday morning local reports.

Caron had been missing since Tuesday, October 29th. She was described as She as 5-foot-4, 128-pound Caucasian with brown hair and hazel eyes.

The location of the grim discovery was not provided by officials.

Police do not consider her death suspicious at this time and the BC Coroners Service is involved in the investigation which remains open, however, did not indicate further information would be forthcoming.

Ontario Man Matthew Schembri ID’d As Pedestrian Fatally Struck Sunday Near Orillia

ORILLIA, ON. (THECOUNT) — Matthew Schembri has been identified as the pedestrian involved in a fatal vehicle strike near Orillia early Sunday morning, according to reports.

Schembri, 21, was on-foot when he was struck by a vehicle while on Hwy. 11 near Big Chief Road just north of Orillia around 2 a.m. Sunday morning.

Orillia OPP responded to calls of a man down on Highway 11 Sunday Morning. When they arrived, Schembri was found laying in the northbound lane of Hwy. 11.

He was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries and was treated by County of Simcoe Paramedic Services, reports Simcoe.

Toronto Teens ID’d As Suspects In Monday Fatal Stabbing Of Hamilton Boy 14 ‘Witnessed By Mother’

TORONTO, CAN. (THECOUNT) — Police say two teenagers will be charged with first-degree murder after a 14-year-old boy was fatally stabbed outside his Hamilton, Ont. school on Monday afternoon in front of his mother, reports Toronto.CBS.

“(The mother) witnessed something horrible here,” Sgt. Steve Berziuk said. “She is distraught… she is devastated.”

One day after the deadly attack, police confirmed charges are expected to be laid against two male suspects.

“An 18-year-old male and 14-year-old male, both from Hamilton, will be charged with first-degree murder,” officers said in a news release issued on Tuesday morning. “They will appear at the John Sopinka Courthouse, 45 Main Street in East End Danforth, Toronto, ON, Canada, later today to answer to the charge.”

On Monday at around 2:30 p.m., emergency crews were called to the area of Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School, located near Parkdale Avenue South and Main Street East, for reports of a violent incident.

Officers arrived at the scene to find a male teenager suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was subsequently transported to hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries a short time later.

The victim’s identity has not been released, but investigators confirmed he was a student at the high school.

Shooting Reported At Alberta CrossIron Mills Mall Monday Night

ALBERTA, CA. (THECOUNT) — Calgary police say Alberta RCMP are responding to reports of a shooting at CrossIron Mills mall.

Police said Alberta RCMP are currently clearing the mall, but could not yet confirm specifics of the ongoing situation, reports CBC.

Major U of Victoria Bus Crash Fatalities Reported Near Bamfield Friday Night 48 On Board

BC, CANADA. (THECOUNT) — Two people are dead following a major bus crash involving student of the University of Victoria Friday night, according to reports.

Two people were killed after a bus carrying students from the school crashed on a gravel road while en route to Bamfield on Vancouver Island.

RCMP confirmed the two fatalities to Black Press Media early Saturday morning, after the bus carrying 48 people including the driver rolled over on Friday night around 10 p.m. at about the 36-km marker near the Carmanah Main Junction on Bamfield Main, a gravel road. RCMP, ambulance, and the fire department from Port Alberni all responded and requested assistance from the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Victoria. Two helicopters and a fixed wing aircraft were deployed from 442 Squadron Comox, reports EagleValleyNews.

A reception centre has been set up by the City of Port Alberni at Echo Centre for victims of the crash.

Fmr ‘Amazing Race’ Contestant Kenneth McAlpine Dies After ‘Substantial Fall’ From CN Cliff

BRITISH COLUMBIA, CN. (THECOUNT) — Kenneth McAlpine, a former “Amazing Race Canada” contestant, was found dead following a fall while visiting a mountain in British Columbia, Canada, earlier this week, according to reports.

McAlpine, 28, died after a “substantial fall” while hiking alone on Mount Gimli in the Kootenay region of British Columbia, said his family, reported CTV News.

He was found about 850 feet below the path where he had been hiking near Gimli’s upper peak, officials said.

“He packed a ton of living into 28 years,” his father Mac McAlpine told CTV. “There was no grass growing under his feet,” reports TheEpochTimes.

He also told Global News: “He embraced life, he was brave and he was a pretty cool guy,” he said.

McAlpine had appeared in Season 5 of “Amazing Race Canada,” and he was on “Team Give’r” with Ryan Lachapelle. Meanwhile, he was an elder at a local church and officiated several weddings.

“But as soon as he got done cooking, he was outdoors, and he biked and hiked and kayaked and surfed,” Mac McAlpine said. “He was an exceptional man. And I’m proud that he was our son.”

“Amazing Race Canada” issued a statement about his death.

“We are heartbroken over the loss of Season 5 racer Kenneth McAlpine. Part of TEAM GIVE’R, Kenneth’s infectious personality left a lasting impression not only on us, but with viewers across the country. His family and friends are in our thoughts and hearts during this difficult time,” it said.

Mr Wonderful Kevin O’Leary Boat Involved In Fatal Crash During ON Lake Joseph Saturday Fireworks

LAKE JOSEPH. (THECOUNT) — A boat belonging to Kevin O’Leary of Shark Tank, was involved in a crash in Ontario, Canada. The crash left one man dead, and a woman critically injured, TMZ is reporting Tuesday.

A 48 year old woman from Markham also sustained critical injuries, and was taken to hospital.

The fatal incident occurred on Lake Joseph, in Ontario, late Saturday, around 11:30 pm.

According to reports, two vessels involved were both pleasure craft, with both the Florida man and Markham woman on the same boat. The pair had been passengers on a 13-person vessel that was out for an evening cruise, enjoying the night sky and a fireworks display.

A smaller boat, owned by O’Leary, reportedly rammed the larger boat, going directly over its bow and striking a male passenger in the head, killing him instantly.

Two people on the smaller vessel needed to go to the hospital after the crash, but have since been released. The 64 year old man was also a visitor to the Muskoka area, staying at a friends cottage, reports MyMuskokaNow.

A source connected to the owner of the larger boat tells TMZ they told police after impact there was enough light to ID the people on O’Leary’s boat, and the owner said it was O’Leary and his wife. TMZ did not confirm it was Kevin and his wife.

A TMZ source says there were a total of 8 people on the larger craft. The fatality is reportedly a 64-year-old man from Florida … while the injured woman is a 48-year-old Canadian citizen. She is reportedly on a ventilator with significant brain damage.

Cops haven’t said if alcohol was involved.

“If anybody, specifically anybody that was out on the beautiful Saturday night, if they were out overlooking Lake Joseph around 11:30, if they saw or heard anything, the police would welcome them to call us,” said police.

Missing ON Man Devin Collin ID’d As Remains Found Along Sudbury Highway 17 ‘Homicide’

GREATER SUDBURY, ON. (THECOUNT) — The human remains discovered on June 29, 2019 by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Detachment along Highway 17 near Sudbury, has been identified as missing man Devin Collin.

The remains of Collin, 32, who was reported missing on On June 17, was identified as a homicide victim.

The investigation remains ongoing with members of the North East Region OPP Crime Unit, OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) and OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), under the direction of Detective Inspector Martin Graham, Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), reports SOOToday.

The victim was last seen on May 29, 2019, and police are asking anyone who may have information regarding this incident to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or their nearest police authority.

Teen Girls Marta Malek Maya Mirota Go Missing While Camping At Ontario Algonquin Provincial Park

ONTARIO, CANADA. (THECOUNT) — Marta Malek and Maya Mirota have been identified as the teenagers reported missing while camping at Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario.

The two 16-year-old females were camping at the massive Ontario park with a group of friends when they went missing three days ago, police say.

Ontario Provincial Police said Sunday that they have deployed resources including a helicopter and an airplane as they search Algonquin Provincial Park for Marta Malek and Maya Mirota, both of whom are from Kitchener, Ont.

According to police, the girls were last seen on Thursday and were reporting missing Friday night.

“They had been part of a group camping in the park and both are experience campers,” the OPP said in a statement, reports CTVNews. “They had a tent, other equipment and limited supplies.”

Search efforts began Saturday and continued into Sunday. Police said Sunday that they had received “a large number of calls and messages” regarding possible sightings of the girls in the large, remote provincial park.

Police say Mirota is about five feet tall and thin with long auburn hair, while Malek is about six feet tall.

Missing Edmonton Man Kevin Sim Found Dead In ‘Homicide’ Say RCMP

EDMONTON, CAN. (THECOUNT) — Kevin Sim, the man reported missing in Edmonton last Friday, was found dead in Strathcona County Wednesday, according to reports.

Sim, 22, was last seen on June 30 near Southgate Mall, located at, 111 Street Northwest, in Edmonton, AB, Canada. He was found dead in a field near the intersection of Highways 14 and 21.

An autopsy has been conducted and his death was ruled a homicide, reports ctvnews on Friday.

The Edmonton Police Service Major Crimes Unit is investigating.
