LOS ANGELES, CA. (THECOUNT) — Kate Beckinsale has sparked concern among fans after deleting her Instagram photo archive and sharing two cryptic messages Sunday, including one that read, “congratulations you win I give up.”
The 53-year-old actress, known for her roles in the “Underworld” franchise and “Serendipity,” posted a black image with the word “bye” written in white lettering on her Instagram grid early Sunday, September 20.

Within approximately an hour, Beckinsale shared a photograph of a rainbow over a road and intersection on her Instagram Stories. The image included the message, “Congratulations, you won. I give up.”
The actress subsequently removed her previous Instagram posts, leaving the concerning message visible on her main profile. She has not publicly explained the meaning of the posts or provided additional details about her circumstances.
Beckinsale’s Instagram bio also included a link to a BBC report about the death of British television presenter Caroline Flack, who died by suicide in 2020. The significance of the link to Beckinsale’s current posts has not been explained.

TMZ reported that Beckinsale’s representative had not immediately responded to a request for comment. Other media outlets also reported that representatives had not provided clarification regarding the actress’s messages.
The posts come less than three weeks after Beckinsale publicly discussed her experience with post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD. In a since-deleted Instagram post shared September 2, she described the persistent psychological effects of trauma and urged people to treat those who may be struggling with greater compassion.
“I think what people will find incredibly hard to understand about non-military PTSD,” Beckinsale wrote, is that people may have experienced levels of “horror, terror, violence” that continue to affect them even when they are not asleep.
She also wrote that people experiencing invisible trauma may be dealing with suffering that others cannot see, encouraging the public to “err on being on the gentler side with people” and to be kinder because it is impossible to know what someone else may be carrying.
Beckinsale has also spoken publicly about the grief surrounding the death of her mother, actress Judy Loe, who died in 2025 following a battle with stage IV cancer. In August, Beckinsale addressed online criticism about her weight and explained that grief had affected her appetite and physical health.
In that post, the actress described losing her father when she was five years old, the later death of her stepfather and her mother’s prolonged illness. She said that witnessing loved ones suffer and die had affected her profoundly.
Beckinsale has previously removed content from her Instagram account during difficult periods. In February, she reportedly deleted her posts and shared a message reading, “You Win,” prompting concern among followers at the time.
Although fans have expressed worry over the latest messages, Beckinsale has not stated that she intends to harm herself, and there has been no verified public report establishing her current safety or circumstances. The meaning of the posts remains unclear.
Beckinsale rose to international prominence through films including “Pearl Harbor,” “Serendipity” and “Van Helsing.” She later became widely known for portraying vampire warrior Selene in the “Underworld” film series.
