LOS ANGELES, CA. (THECOUNT) — Miguel Angel Aguilar, a prominent fitness influencer and founder of a gym chain with locations across Southern California and beyond, has died three months after being shot during an attempted robbery. Aguilar, 43, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024, surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Aguilar’s team shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram, writing, “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our founder and CEO, Miguel Angel Aguilar. After a courageous three-month battle following the tragic incident that took place on September 13th, 2024, Miguel peacefully passed away surrounded by his loved ones.”

The incident occurred in Los Angeles when Aguilar was allegedly followed to his home by four men. Upon confronting him in his driveway, the suspects attempted to rob him, during which Aguilar was shot in the face. Despite undergoing extensive medical treatment, Aguilar succumbed to his injuries.

Three suspects have since been arrested in Northern California in connection with the robbery and shooting. The individuals face charges of murder, attempted robbery, and assault with a firearm. If convicted, they could face life sentences.

Aguilar was well-known in the fitness community, with tens of thousands of social media followers and a reputation for motivating others to lead healthier lives. His gym chain “Self Made Training Facility” has become a staple for fitness enthusiasts in Southern California and several other states.
