HARDINSBURG, KY. (THECOUNT) — Bradley Mattingly, of Leitchfield, Kentucky has been identified as the suspect arrested in the hit-and-run collision that killed an 8-year-old Breckinridge County boy Saturday.

Mattingly, 35, struck the 8-year-old boy in his SUV and then fled the scene of the crash leaving the child bleeding in the street Saturday.

Kentucky State Police responded to calls of a vehicle versus pedestrian incident after 12:30 p.m. Saturday in the 12000 block of Highway 259 South.

Police said Mattingly’s SUV was traveling north on the roadway when the he struck the 8-year-old who was getting mail from the mailbox on the side of the road.

The child, who has not been identified because of his age, was pronounced dead at the scene of massive blunt force trauma.

Mattingly was located less than 13 minutes after the accident by a trooper who was responding to the scene.

He has been charged with reckless homicide and leaving the scene of an accident, reports WLKY.

He’s being held in the Breckinridge County Detention Center.
