Police said a silver 2017 GMC Acadia had exited westbound K-96 and began turning left onto northbound Greenwich Road when it collided with Nassar’s motorcycle. Investigators said the motorcycle was traveling westbound from Greenwich Court toward westbound K-96.

The Acadia was driven by a 16-year-old, with a 41-year-old passenger aboard. Both remained at the scene, police said. Investigators believe speed may have been a contributing factor. The Wichita Police Department’s Accident Follow-Up Unit and Critical Accident Team are investigating the collision.

Nassar was an international student at Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas, where he played on the men’s soccer team. The college remembered him as “the most uplifting and kind person,” saying he made a lasting impact on those who knew him.

“During this difficult time, our hearts are with Bader’s family, friends, teammates, coaches, professors, and all whose lives he touched,” the college said.

Wichita Selection, a local soccer organization where Nassar also played, shared a separate tribute to the young athlete. The organization described him as a teammate, brother and friend, emphasizing that the relationships formed through soccer extended well beyond the field.

Wichita Selection said Nassar would be remembered for his kindness and big heart, adding that he would always have a place in the organization’s family.

North Newton, home to Bethel College, is in Harvey County, north of Wichita. The fatal collision occurred in northeast Wichita, part of the greater Wichita metropolitan area in south-central Kansas.
