MILLVALE, PA. (THECOUNT) — Andy Williams, the guitarist for metalcore band “Every Time I Die,” and former All Elite Wrestling performer known as “The Butcher,” has died at 48 after suffering a medical emergency during a tag team match Saturday night in Millvale, Pennsylvania, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Williams was performing at Mr. Smalls Theatre during Enjoy Wrestling’s five-year anniversary event on September 5 when he collapsed near the end of a match. Williams and his longtime tag team partner, The Blade, were facing TME when the medical emergency occurred.

Enjoy Wrestling said its medical staff immediately responded to Williams and administered CPR until an ambulance arrived. Emergency personnel continued efforts to revive him before he was transported to a hospital, where he later died.
The remainder of the Enjoy Wrestling event was canceled following the medical emergency, and attendees were sent home while Williams was taken to the hospital. The promotion thanked those who assisted during the emergency and said its personnel went to the hospital while awaiting further information.
Williams’ death was confirmed by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office, according to TMZ. No cause of death has been released.
Williams became widely known in professional wrestling as The Butcher, forming a prominent tag team with The Blade. The pair joined AEW in 2019 alongside The Bunny and became regular members of the promotion’s roster.
Williams and The Blade remained associated with AEW for nearly seven years before their contracts expired in June 2026. The longtime partners subsequently continued performing together on the independent wrestling circuit.
Williams also had a significant career in music. He was a founding member and guitarist for the Buffalo-based metalcore band, which formed in 1998 and developed an international following during its more than two-decade run.
Every Time I Die released multiple studio albums and became a prominent name in the metalcore scene before the band announced its breakup in 2022.
The dual careers made Williams recognizable to both professional wrestling and heavy music audiences. His transition from touring musician to professional wrestler ultimately led to his national exposure through AEW, where The Butcher and The Blade became established tag-team performers.
Williams had also been active with Enjoy Wrestling in the Pittsburgh area. Mr. Smalls Theatre had promoted the September 5 event as a five-year anniversary celebration featuring Williams and The Blade among its advertised performers.
Williams’ collapse occurred at the conclusion of his match, with medical personnel responding immediately. Witness reports indicated that CPR and an automated external defibrillator were used before he was transported by ambulance, although officials have not publicly released a cause or manner of death.
The death remains under medical review, with additional information expected as authorities complete their examination.
Millvale is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, located just northeast of Pittsburgh along the Allegheny River. Mr. Smalls Theatre, where the medical emergency occurred, is a longtime Pittsburgh-area live music and entertainment venue.
