‘Laundromat’ ‘Don’t Mess with My Man’ Singer Nivea Reveals Leukemia Diagnosis

ATLANTA, GA. (THECOUNT) — Nivea, the Grammy-nominated R&B singer known for hit songs including “Don’t Mess with My Man” and “Laundromat,” has revealed she is battling leukemia, saying the diagnosis has dramatically changed her outlook on life while inspiring her to pursue new personal and professional goals.

The singer shared details of her health battle during a recent appearance on the musical interview series “Cadillac Chronicles,” where she discussed learning of the diagnosis earlier this year.

She is 44.

According to Nivea, treatment has been progressing well, and she expressed gratitude for the support she has received throughout the experience.

The couple married in 2004 and welcomed daughter Navy along with twin sons London and Christian before separating in 2007.

Prior to her marriage, Nivea was engaged to rapper Lil Wayne after the pair began dating in the early 2000s.

Although the engagement ended, the two later reunited following her separation from The-Dream and welcomed son Neal Carter in 2009.

Neal has since begun pursuing his own music career under the stage name Lil Novi.

Throughout the interview, Nivea emphasized that gratitude has become a central part of her daily life as she navigates treatment and recovery.

She said her focus remains on her children, her faith, and continuing to pursue her passion for music.
