UTICA, NY. (THECOUNT) — Sean Jordan, 36, of Rome, New York, died Thursday after a motorcycle crash on the Oriskany Street ramp off Route 12 in Utica, according to the Utica Police Department. Authorities said Jordan lost control of the motorcycle before striking a guardrail.
Utica is located in Oneida County in central New York, approximately 50 miles east of Syracuse. The fatal crash occurred on the Oriskany Street ramp connected to Route 12.
According to the Utica Police Department, officers and members of the Utica Fire Department responded to the scene at approximately 9:05 a.m. Thursday following reports of a motorcycle collision.
Investigators said preliminary information indicates Jordan was operating the motorcycle when he lost control and struck a guardrail.
Emergency responders provided aid at the scene before Jordan was transported to Wynn Hospital for treatment.
Authorities said life-saving efforts were undertaken at the hospital; however, Jordan later succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.
Officials have not released additional details regarding what may have caused the motorcycle to leave the roadway.
The Utica Police Department Accident Reconstruction Unit is conducting an investigation into the fatal crash and said updates will be provided as they become available.
