DOTHAN, AL. (THECOUNT) — Quinteria Reaves, 29, of Dothan, Alabama, was killed early Friday after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Ross Clark Circle in Dothan, according to the Dothan Police Department. Authorities said the driver remained at the scene as investigators worked to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
Dothan is located in southeastern Alabama near the Florida and Georgia state lines. The crash occurred in the 600 block of Ross Clark Circle, a major thoroughfare that encircles the city.
Dothan Police officers responded to the scene shortly after 4 a.m. Friday following reports of a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle.
According to investigators, Reaves was crossing Ross Clark Circle when she was hit by a passing vehicle.
First responders immediately rendered aid and attempted lifesaving measures at the scene.
Authorities said Reaves succumbed to injuries sustained in the collision and was pronounced dead.
Police have not released additional information regarding the driver or what factors may have contributed to the crash.
The Dothan Police Department’s CRASH Team is conducting an investigation into the fatal incident.
In a statement, the department said, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the friends and family of Ms. Reaves as they go through this difficult time.”
Officials said the investigation remains active and additional information may be released as it becomes available.
