Missing NE Man Jesse Wragge ID’d Sunday As Victim In Pierce County Fatal Motorcycle Crash

PIERCE COUNTY, NE. (THECOUNT) — Jesse Wragge, 45, of Pierce, Nebraska, has been identified as the victim of a fatal motorcycle crash discovered Sunday night in Pierce County, located in northeastern Nebraska approximately 120 miles northwest of Omaha.

According to Pierce County Sheriff Rick Eberhardt, the investigation began earlier Sunday when the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office received a missing-person report after Wragge had not been heard from since the previous evening.

Authorities said family members and others became concerned when Wragge failed to return home or make contact following a motorcycle ride Saturday night.

Deputies began gathering information regarding his whereabouts while continuing efforts to locate him.

At approximately 10:25 p.m. Sunday, a 911 caller reported that Wragge had been found and was involved in a crash along U.S. Highway 20 east of Osmond.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, where they discovered the motorcycle and its rider off the roadway.

Preliminary findings indicate Wragge was traveling eastbound on Highway 20 when his motorcycle left the highway for reasons that remain under investigation.

Investigators said the motorcycle struck the north embankment before overturning.

Wragge suffered fatal injuries in the crash.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not released information indicating any other vehicles were involved in the incident.

Sheriff Eberhardt said Wragge was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Officials also stated that alcohol use is suspected as a possible contributing factor, although final determinations will depend on the results of the ongoing investigation.

Pierce County is situated in northeastern Nebraska and is primarily known for its agricultural communities, rural highways, and transportation routes connecting smaller towns throughout the region. U.S. Highway 20 serves as one of the state’s principal east-west corridors and carries both local and long-distance traffic across northern Nebraska.

Osmond, near where the crash occurred, is a community located in Pierce County approximately 100 miles southwest of Sioux City, Iowa. The area consists largely of farmland and open rural terrain, with Highway 20 providing a major transportation link through the county.

Motorcycle crashes on rural highways often present additional challenges for emergency responders due to lower traffic volumes and the possibility that accidents may go undiscovered for extended periods, particularly during overnight hours.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
