Dog And Beth’s Son Garry Chapman Named ‘Patrol Officer Of The Year’

PRICEVILLE, AL. (THECOUNT) — Garry Chapman, the son of television personality Dog the Bounty Hunter and the late Beth Chapman, has been named ACE Interdiction’s 2025 Patrol Officer of the Year.

According to Chapman, the honor was announced Sunday by ACE Interdiction, which selected him for his work as a Criminal Apprehension Specialist.

Chapman said the award was based on law enforcement performance metrics reviewed by the organization, including arrests and narcotics seizure statistics compiled during 2025.

According to Chapman, his narcotics seizure totals were the highest recorded within his county during the year, helping earn him the recognition.

He said ACE Interdiction presents only a limited number of awards annually and that recipients are selected through a merit-based process.

Chapman also stated that the nomination carried special significance because fellow law enforcement officers, including members of his command staff, supported his candidacy.

The award comes during a period of renewed attention surrounding Chapman’s law enforcement career following a highly publicized pursuit that occurred in Alabama during September 2025.

That pursuit ended in a fatal crash that resulted in the death of a teenager and injuries to several other individuals.

Following the incident, Chapman was placed on administrative leave by the Priceville Police Department.

He was later terminated from his position, according to previously reported accounts of the disciplinary proceedings.

Chapman appealed the decision, and the matter was reviewed by local officials.

The Priceville City Council ultimately overturned the termination and replaced it with a 10-day unpaid suspension, allowing Chapman to return to duty.

Priceville is located in Morgan County in north Alabama and is part of the Decatur metropolitan area. The community is situated near Interstate 65 and serves as a residential and commercial center within the Tennessee Valley region.

ACE Interdiction is a law enforcement training and recognition organization that focuses on criminal interdiction, narcotics enforcement, and patrol operations. The group periodically recognizes officers for notable enforcement activity and professional achievements.

Chapman is one of the children of Duane “Dog” Chapman and the late Beth Chapman, both of whom became nationally known through reality television programs centered on bounty hunting and fugitive apprehension.

According to Chapman, his father was enthusiastic about the award and particularly appreciated the Criminal Apprehension Specialist designation associated with the recognition.

No additional details regarding the award selection process were immediately released.
