OH Man Ray Martin ID’d As Pedestrian In Sunday Cincinnati Fatal Vehicle Strike

CINCINNATI, OH. (THECOUNT) — Ray Martin, 33, has been identified by the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office as the pedestrian killed in a crash early Sunday morning on Interstate 75 North near the Hopple Street exit in Cincinnati.

Authorities said Martin, of Cincinnati, was struck during a crash that occurred at approximately 2:25 a.m. Sunday along I-75 North in Hamilton County.

According to Cincinnati Police, a 51-year-old man was driving a Cadillac Escalade northbound on Interstate 75 when he lost control of the vehicle and struck Martin and a 34-year-old woman who were standing outside their vehicle for reasons that have not been publicly disclosed.

Emergency responders with Cincinnati Fire and EMS arrived at the scene and performed life-saving measures on both victims before transporting them to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Martin was later pronounced dead at the hospital as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

The second victim, a 34-year-old woman, remains hospitalized with serious injuries, according to police officials.

The crash occurred on Interstate 75 North near the Hopple Street interchange, a heavily traveled corridor that runs through the western side of downtown Cincinnati. I-75 is one of the primary north–south interstate highways in the United States, extending from the Great Lakes region through Ohio and continuing south toward Florida.

The driver of the Cadillac Escalade remained at the scene following the crash. Authorities have not announced any charges or citations related to the incident as of Sunday.

The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office is responsible for confirming victim identities and determining official cause and manner of death following fatal incidents in the county. Additional examinations and investigative steps are typically conducted in coordination with law enforcement agencies.
