GA Man Tony Gales ID’d As Victim In Thursday Macon Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash

MACON, Ga. (THECOUNT) — Tony Gales, of Georgia, was killed Thursday night in a two-vehicle crash in Macon, a city located in central Georgia approximately 85 miles southeast of Atlanta, authorities said. The collision involved a Nissan Altima and an Audi SUV, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Gales was 52 years old.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal crash occurred at approximately 10 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Knoxville Road and Bethel Church Road in south Macon.

Investigators said a Nissan Altima was traveling south on Knoxville Road while an Audi SUV was crossing the intersection from the opposite direction on Bethel Church Road when the two vehicles collided.

Authorities said Gales was a passenger in the Nissan Altima. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported him to a local hospital for treatment.

Despite medical efforts, Gales later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The drivers and any other occupants involved in the collision were not reported to have suffered serious injuries. Authorities said no one else was injured in the crash.

The crash occurred in the southern portion of Macon near the intersection of Knoxville Road and Bethel Church Road, an area that experiences a mixture of residential, commercial, and commuter traffic. Investigators continue to examine evidence from the scene as they work to determine the complete sequence of events that led to the collision.

Authorities have not released additional information regarding which driver may have had the right of way or whether speed, impairment, distraction, or other contributing factors played a role in the crash.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation remains active. Fatality investigators continue to review evidence and have not announced whether any citations or charges are anticipated.
