CONCORD, MICH. (THECOUNT) — Jason Baker, 34, of Spring Arbor, Michigan, was identified as the victim in a fatal motorcycle crash Monday morning in Jackson County, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
Baker was operating a motorcycle westbound on M-60 near Main Street in the village of Concord at approximately 6:30 a.m. when the collision occurred.
According to investigators, a GMC Terrain pulled out of a gas station and began turning eastbound onto M-60, entering the path of Baker’s motorcycle.
The motorcycle collided with the SUV, causing Baker to be ejected from the bike.
Baker suffered critical injuries in the crash and was transported to Henry Ford Jackson Hospital in Jackson, Michigan.
Despite life-saving efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, authorities said.
Investigators confirmed Baker was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash, though the investigation remains ongoing.
The driver of the GMC Terrain was not identified in the initial release.
