ROYAL PALM BEACH, FLA. (THECOUNT) — Albert “Gino” Humphrey, 39, of Royal Palm Beach, Florida, was identified as the victim in a fatal motorcycle crash Saturday night on State Road 7 near Victoria Groves Boulevard, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
Humphrey was operating a 2022 Suzuki motorcycle southbound on State Road 7 at approximately 9:30 p.m. when a 2022 BMW SUV driven by a 56-year-old Wellington woman attempted a U-turn from the northbound lanes into the southbound side of the highway, investigators said.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, the SUV entered Humphrey’s path, resulting in a collision between the motorcycle and the rear of the BMW.
The impact ejected Humphrey from the motorcycle and threw him more than 200 feet, authorities said.
Humphrey suffered critical injuries and was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach.
Despite emergency medical treatment, he was pronounced dead at the hospital at approximately 10:10 p.m.
Authorities said Humphrey was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The driver of the BMW sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
Investigators have not announced whether any charges are pending as the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division continues its investigation.
Humphrey, affectionately known as “Gino” by friends and fellow riders, was originally from Fort Lauderdale and attended Plantation High School. He was also known within the motorcycle community as an active participant in the National Bikers Roundup and NABSTMC riding community.
Following news of his death, fellow riders and friends shared tributes and condolences across social media, remembering Humphrey for his friendship, loyalty and passion for motorcycling.
Royal Palm Beach is located in central Palm Beach County, approximately 15 miles west of downtown West Palm Beach.
