‘Alaskan Bush People’ Star Matt Brown Feared Dead Of Suicide Say Family [Video]

OROVILLE, WASH. (THECOUNT) — Matt Brown, known for appearing on the Discovery Channel reality series Alaskan Bush People, is feared dead after a reported incident along the Okanogan River in Washington state, according to family statements and local authorities.

Brown’s brother, Bear Brown, posted a video to TikTok on Thursday expressing concern that Matt may have taken his own life.

In the video, Bear said witnesses reported seeing Matt near a river and later floating in the water, though he acknowledged he could not independently confirm the information.

The Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office confirmed authorities received a 911 call Wednesday reporting that a man was sitting in shallow water in the Okanogan River south of Oroville, Washington.

According to officials, the caller briefly looked away before hearing a sound and then observed the man face down in the river being carried away by the current.

Law enforcement officers, firefighters, and EMS personnel responded and searched the area but were unable to locate a body.

Authorities said the search was expected to resume when weather conditions improve.

No positive identification has been made by officials as of Friday morning.

The incident comes days after Brown reportedly uploaded a YouTube video allegedly showing himself intoxicated while wandering unclothed through a public park while appearing to carry a firearm.

Family members previously told media outlets they had largely cut off contact with Brown several years ago due to concerns regarding erratic behavior.

Alaskan Bush People aired for 14 seasons and followed the Brown family living in remote areas of Alaska. The series concluded in 2022.

Oroville is located in north-central Washington near the Canadian border along the Okanogan River corridor.
