SEYMOUR, CT. (THECOUNT) — Richard DiMauro, 79, of Oxford, Connecticut, was killed Friday night in a head-on collision involving a 1930 Ford Model A and a Ford F350 pickup truck in Seymour, according to police.
The fatal crash occurred around 8:55 p.m. Friday near the intersection of Great Hill Road and Southwest Road in New Haven County.
Authorities said responding officers located two heavily damaged vehicles involved in a head-on collision.
Investigators identified the vehicles as a 1930 Ford Model A and a Ford F350 pickup truck.
Police said DiMauro was operating the Ford Model A at the time of the collision.
Officers arriving at the scene found DiMauro unresponsive inside the vehicle, according to authorities.
Emergency personnel immediately initiated lifesaving measures before transporting Dimauro to Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Officials said DiMauro later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The operator of the Ford F350 sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment.
Authorities have not publicly identified the driver of the pickup truck.
The crash scene remained active Friday night as investigators documented evidence and crews worked to remove debris and damaged vehicles from the roadway.
Great Hill Road and Southwest Road are local connector routes serving residential and rural portions of Seymour and neighboring Oxford in western Connecticut.
The area surrounding the crash site includes winding roadways, wooded sections, and limited nighttime visibility in certain stretches.
Investigators have not yet released information regarding what may have caused the head-on collision.
Authorities also have not indicated whether speed, impairment, weather conditions, distraction, or a medical event may have contributed to the crash.
The Seymour Police Department investigation remains ongoing.
