Star Wars ‘Yoda’ Voice Actor Tom Kane Dies At 64

KANSAS CITY, MO. (THECOUNT) — Tom Kane, the veteran voice actor widely known for his performances in the “Star Wars” franchise and “The Powerpuff Girls,” has died at the age of 64, according to his representative.

Zach McGinnis, Kane’s representative, confirmed the actor died Monday at a hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, surrounded by family members.

According to McGinnis, Kane’s death resulted from complications related to a stroke he suffered in 2020.

McGinnis released a statement following Kane’s death, saying, “Though his voice may now be silent, the characters, stories, and love he gave to the world will live on forever.”

Kane became one of the most recognizable voice actors in animation and gaming through a career that spanned decades.

He was best known to many fans as the voice of Yoda in the animated “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” feature film and television series.

In addition to his work in the “Star Wars” universe, Kane voiced Professor Utonium and the villain HIM in the animated series “The Powerpuff Girls.”

His voice work extended into numerous animated television productions, films, commercials, and video games.

Kane also contributed voice performances to major video game franchises, including multiple titles in the “Call of Duty” series.

According to the statement, Kane and his wife raised a family of nine children, including three biological children as well as six children welcomed through adoption and fostering.

Fans recently saw Kane in what became his final Instagram post, which featured him smiling alongside imagery connected to “The Powerpuff Girls.”

His performances helped shape some of the most recognizable animated and gaming characters of the last several decades.
