AL Woman Tameron Garner ID’d As Driver In Sunday Sumiton Fatal Crash

SUMITON, AL. (THECOUNT) — Tameron B. Garner, 21, of Sumiton, Alabama, was killed early Sunday morning in a single-vehicle crash north of Sumiton in Walker County, according to authorities.

The fatal collision occurred shortly after midnight Sunday, May 17, on Hull Road near Harding Road, located less than a mile north of Sumiton in north-central Alabama.

According to investigators, Garner was operating a 2015 Kia Optima when the vehicle left the roadway for reasons that remain under investigation.

Authorities said the Kia struck a mailbox before colliding with a tree.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and pronounced Garner dead from injuries sustained in the crash.

Officials confirmed Garner was the sole occupant of the vehicle at the time of the collision.

The crash prompted an overnight emergency response along Hull Road as law enforcement officers and first responders secured the scene and conducted an initial investigation.

Traffic in the immediate area was affected while crews worked to document the collision scene and remove the damaged vehicle from the roadway.

Investigators have not publicly stated what may have caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.

Authorities also have not released information regarding possible speed, impairment, weather conditions, or whether Garner was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Highway Patrol Division are continuing to investigate the fatal collision.

No additional details have been released by authorities at this time.

Single-vehicle crashes remain a significant source of roadway fatalities across Alabama each year, particularly during overnight and early morning travel hours on rural roadways.

Investigators routinely examine roadway conditions, vehicle dynamics, driver actions, and other contributing factors during fatal crash investigations.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has not announced when additional findings related to the crash may become available.
