PA Men James Eyerly, Ronald Lindenmuth ID’d As Victims In Tuesday Hershey Double-Fatal Crash

DERRY TOWNSHIP, PA. (THECOUNT)James Eyerly, 63, of Harrisburg, and Ronald Lindenmuth, 57, of Phoenix, were killed Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle crash at an intersection in Derry Township, according to township police and the Dauphin County Coroner’s Office.

A 17-year-old driver involved in the collision was transported to Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Hershey is an unincorporated community in Derry Township, Dauphin County, in central Pennsylvania, approximately 15 miles east of Harrisburg.

The crash occurred between approximately 8:30 and 9 a.m. at the intersection of West Hersheypark Drive and North Hockersville Road. Police said the collision involved a minivan operated by Lindenmuth, with Eyerly riding as a passenger, and a sedan driven by the 17-year-old.

According to the preliminary investigation, the sedan was traveling eastbound on Hersheypark Drive when the minivan attempted to turn left in front of the approaching vehicle. The vehicles then collided.

Eyerly was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Derry Township police. Lindenmuth was transported to Hershey Medical Center, where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash.

The Dauphin County Coroner’s Office ruled both deaths accidental. The cause of death for each man was listed as multiple traumatic injuries resulting from the vehicle collision.

The crash prompted a significant closure of the roadway while investigators processed the scene and collected evidence. Lanes in both directions were closed in the area of Hersheypark Drive, Park Boulevard and Chocolate Avenue.

The roadway remained closed for several hours before reopening shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Police have not indicated that charges have been filed in connection with the crash. The investigation remains active, and authorities are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or may have captured the collision or events leading up to it on a dashcam to contact the Derry Township Police Department at 717-534-2202.

Information may also be submitted anonymously through the department’s Crimewatch tip system.

The fatal collision occurred near several major attractions and roadways serving the Hershey area. Hersheypark Drive provides access to Hersheypark and other destinations in the community and connects with local roads carrying traffic through Derry Township.

Authorities have not released additional information about the 17-year-old driver beyond the reported injuries. Because the investigation remains ongoing, officials have not provided a final determination regarding how the collision occurred.
