PA Man James Lake ID’d As Rider In Wednesday Tamaqua Fatal Motorcycle Crash

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA. (THECOUNT) — James Paul Lake, of Barnesville, Pennsylvania, has been identified as the victim in a fatal motorcycle crash Wednesday afternoon in Blythe Township, according to authorities. Lake was 53.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 4:26 p.m. Wednesday on Mountain Road near the intersection with Tumbling Run Road in Schuylkill County, located in eastern Pennsylvania.

According to Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, Lake was operating a 2023 Triumph Tiger motorcycle while traveling along Mountain Road in Tamaqua when the fatal crash occurred.

Investigators said the motorcycle approached a curve near the intersection where Mountain Road bears to the left.

Police reported that as Lake entered the curve, he lost control of the motorcycle.

The motorcycle subsequently overturned and traveled across Mountain Road before coming to rest along the right shoulder of the roadway.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene following reports of the crash.

Lake sustained serious injuries in the collision.

Authorities confirmed he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Pottsville/Schuylkill Haven EMS transported Lake to Lehigh Valley Medical Center East in Pottsville for emergency treatment.

Hospital personnel attempted lifesaving measures following his arrival.

Despite emergency medical efforts, Lake succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.

Officials have not publicly released the exact time of death.

No other vehicles were involved in the collision, according to investigators.

Authorities have not publicly stated what caused Lake to lose control of the motorcycle while navigating the curve.

State police have not released information indicating whether speed, roadway conditions, mechanical issues, or medical factors may have contributed to the crash.

The investigation into the fatal collision remains ongoing.

Mountain Road remained active with emergency personnel and investigators Wednesday afternoon while authorities documented evidence and examined the crash scene.

Motorcycle crashes on rural and winding roadways often require extended investigations to determine the precise sequence of events leading up to a collision.

The Triumph Tiger operated by Lake is an adventure-style touring motorcycle designed for both highway and off-road travel.

No additional information regarding the condition of the motorcycle or other circumstances surrounding the crash was immediately released.

Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville continue to investigate the incident.

Authorities may release additional details as the investigation progresses.
