ATLANTA, GA. (THECOUNT) — Qualeisha Barnes, known in the music community by her rap name “So Siditty,” has been identified as the victim in a fatal shooting in Atlanta, Georgia, according to authorities and family members.
Barnes was 36.
According to the Atlanta Police Department, officers were dispatched to a reported shooting at approximately 1:23 a.m. Wednesday, April 8, in Atlanta, located in Fulton County in the north-central portion of the state. Upon arrival, officers located an adult female inside a white Range Rover, unresponsive and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services responded to the scene and confirmed the victim deceased. Police said Barnes sustained multiple gunshot wounds, including gunshot injuries to the face. Officials have not released additional details regarding the sequence of events leading up to the shooting or whether the vehicle was in motion or parked at the time of the incident.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office officially identified Barnes as the victim. Authorities have not released information regarding a suspect, possible motive, or any arrests in the case. The shooting remains under active investigation by the Atlanta Police Department.
Family members confirmed “LeLe” Barnes’ identity in interviews with local media outlets and provided additional insight into her life. According to her mother, Francine Lopez-Stewart, Barnes was approximately 14 weeks pregnant at the time of her death.
Barnes was originally from Detroit, Michigan, and had been residing in the Atlanta metropolitan area for nearly a decade prior to the incident. Atlanta, one of the largest cities in the southeastern United States, has long been recognized as a major center for music, business, and culture, attracting residents from across the country, including those pursuing careers in entertainment and healthcare fields.
Relatives said Barnes had been working to build her music career under the name “So Siditty” while also pursuing her education in the medical field. According to family members, she was enrolled in a nursing program and had been making steady progress toward completing her degree.
Her mother stated that Barnes had recently earned placement on the dean’s list and was nearing the completion of her studies, with only a limited number of semesters remaining. Family members described her as focused on her future and proud of her accomplishments in both academics and music.
In statements provided to local media, Barnes’ sister, Shatara Davis, spoke about their close personal relationship, emphasizing their shared upbringing and strong family bond. Davis described knowing her sister beyond her public persona as an artist, referring to her by family nicknames and recalling their time growing up together.
Her mother also described Barnes as someone with an outgoing personality who enjoyed humor and frequently made others laugh. Family members emphasized her role within the family and the impact of her loss.
Authorities have not indicated whether investigators have identified any persons of interest. No details have been released regarding potential surveillance footage, witness accounts, or other evidence that may be part of the ongoing case review.
The Atlanta Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting and is asking anyone with information to come forward. Tips may assist investigators in determining what led to the fatal incident.
