International Runway Model Cristina Pérez Found Dead At 21 In Home

MÁLAGA, SPAIN (THECOUNT) — Cristina Pérez Galcenco, an international runway model, was found dead at her home in Málaga on February 3. Galcenco, who was widely referred to professionally as Cristina Pérez, began her career as a teenager and worked fashion shows across Europe and Asia. She was 21.

Several outlets, including Spanish newspaper ABC, reported that Galcenco’s death appeared to be from what authorities described as natural causes. No additional official details about the cause of death have been publicly released by investigators as of this reporting.

ABC reported that Galcenco had recently relocated to Málaga to enroll in a class at a local school. Her body was discovered inside the residence on February 3. Authorities have not indicated any signs of foul play, and no criminal investigation has been announced in connection with her death.

Galcenco began her modeling career at just 14 years old when she walked the runway at the Campoamor Fashion Show in Oviedo, Spain. That early appearance marked the start of a career that would take her to multiple major fashion centers across the globe. In the years that followed, she reportedly walked runways in Madrid, Milan, Paris, London, and also participated in shows in China.

These cities represent some of the most recognized fashion capitals in the world, hosting internationally known fashion weeks and industry showcases where designers, agencies, photographers, and media converge. Models who work in these markets often travel extensively between countries during seasonal fashion calendars, working with different agencies and production teams in various regions.

Following news of her death, organizers of the Campoamor Fashion Show — the same event where she first stepped onto a runway as a teenager — posted a tribute to Galcenco on Instagram that included photos and video honoring her life and early career. Public tributes from early career venues are common in the fashion industry when a model who began there later gains broader international exposure.

While reports have used the term “natural causes,” that phrase has a specific meaning in medical and legal contexts. A death classified as natural typically means it resulted from an internal medical condition or physiological issue rather than from external trauma, violence, accident, or self-harm. Examples can include undiagnosed medical conditions, cardiac events, neurological issues, infections, or other health-related complications that occur without outside intervention.

Importantly, the use of the term does not, by itself, specify what the underlying medical issue was. Especially in the case of a young adult, authorities often await toxicology results, medical history reviews, and forensic examinations before providing any further detail, and in many cases those findings are not publicly released out of privacy considerations for the family.

At this time, no agency, law enforcement authority, or medical examiner has released a detailed public statement specifying the exact medical cause of Galcenco’s death beyond the description reported by media outlets as natural.

Galcenco’s career path reflects a trajectory not uncommon in the modeling world, where talent is often identified and developed during early adolescence. Models frequently begin runway work in their teens and go on to work internationally if signed by agencies with global reach. Participation in shows across multiple countries generally involves agency representation, casting calls, fittings, rehearsals, and strict scheduling tied to fashion week calendars.

Her work across Spain, Italy, France, the United Kingdom, and China placed her in several of the industry’s most active markets for runway and fashion presentation. These international circuits are known for demanding travel schedules and long production days during show seasons.

As of now, no additional official information has been released regarding the circumstances surrounding her death. Spanish media coverage has largely focused on her career and the early start that led to her appearances in prominent fashion venues across multiple countries.

Galcenco’s passing has been noted across Spanish and fashion-focused outlets, particularly due to the breadth of her runway experience at a young age and the international scope of her work in the modeling industry.
