Missing SC Teen ‘MyAngel Walker’ ID’d As Body Found Malachi Pressley & Taylor Kinard Arrested

CLINTON, SC. (THECOUNT) — Investigators are delving into the tragic death of 18-year-old MyAngel Walker, with Malachi Pressley, 19, and Taylor Kinard, 19, having been arrested in connection to the incident. Walker was reported missing by her family to the Laurens Police Department after she failed to show up for work, an event out of character for the young woman.

The investigation rapidly escalated from a missing person case to a homicide inquiry as the search extended into Newberry and Greenwood counties. Laurens Police Chief Heath Copeland emphasized the gravity of the situation, noting, “It became apparent during the night that we were looking for something a little more than just somebody missing.”

Walker’s body was discovered in a vehicle on Friday, near McKenzie Road in Greenwood County, marking a sorrowful end to the search. The Clinton Police Department alleges that Pressley murdered Walker between 10 and 11 p.m. on Wednesday on Gary Street, with Kinard assisting in the disposal of the body afterward. Pressley faces charges of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, while Kinard is charged as an accessory after the fact.

Clinton Police Chief Michael Addison confirmed Kinard’s involvement, stating, “She had knowledge of it and she helped.” Both suspects were denied bond during their hearing on Saturday morning, reflecting the severity of the charges against them.

MyAngel Walker’s mother, Sade Woodruff, revealed the personal connection to the tragedy, noting that Pressley was her daughter’s on-and-off boyfriend. She used this moment to advocate for those in similar situations, urging, “Anybody that’s going through any type of domestic dispute, being abused, anything, get away. If you are able, get away.”

Walker, remembered as a bright and kind-hearted individual, had aspirations of becoming a nurse after graduating from high school earlier in the year. The community and police alike mourn her loss, with Copeland stating, “This is a tragedy that should not happen. But we’re glad that we were able to get justice for that family really quickly here.”

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is aiding in the ongoing investigation, with police continuing to seek further information. Anyone with knowledge related to Walker’s death is encouraged to contact the Clinton Police Department at 864-833-7512. Chief Addison extended the department’s deepest condolences to Walker’s family and friends during this trying time.

This case not only highlights the swift action of law enforcement but also underscores the heartbreaking reality of domestic violence, urging community vigilance and support for those in need.

Clinton is a city in Laurens County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 8,490 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Greenville–Mauldin–Easley Metropolitan Statistical Area in upstate South Carolina. Clinton is the home of Presbyterian College.
