TUCSON, AZ. (THECOUNT) — Authorities have released new details regarding a tragic motorcycle crash that claimed the life of 60-year-old Marc Ian La Brack on Tuesday, Dec. 3. The accident occurred at approximately 4:45 p.m. at the intersection of East Broadway Boulevard and North Venice Avenue in Tucson, Arizona.
Emergency personnel from the Tucson Fire Department arrived on the scene and transported La Brack to St. Joseph’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The driver of the other vehicle involved, a 61-year-old woman operating a 2023 Subaru Forester, was not injured in the crash and fully cooperated with investigators.
Preliminary Investigation Reveals Contributing Factors
According to the Tucson Police Department, La Brack was traveling westbound on Broadway Boulevard at a high rate of speed when his motorcycle collided with the Subaru, which was making a left turn onto North Venice Avenue. Investigators believe La Brack may have been using the bus lane at the time of the crash.
A DUI officer confirmed that the Subaru driver was not impaired during the incident. However, police have noted potential contributing factors on both sides, including La Brack’s speed and the Subaru driver’s failure to yield while turning. No charges have been filed as the investigation remains ongoing.
Community Mourns Loss
The loss of Marc Ian La Brack, who also had ties to Hawaii, has left a somber mark on the community. While authorities work to piece together the exact circumstances of the crash, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks posed by excessive speed and the critical importance of vigilance on the road.
As the investigation continues, Tucson police urge all drivers to exercise caution, obey traffic laws, and remain alert, especially in high-traffic areas like East Broadway Boulevard.
