TN Man Trevett Cole Rash ID’d As Victim In Tuesday Nashville Fatal Shooting

NASHVILLE, TN. (THECOUNT) — Trevett Cole Rash was found shot and killed in a wooded area of North Nashville, Tennessee, Tuesday evening, prompting a homicide investigation by the Metro Nashville Police Department. Rash was 27.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, a passerby discovered Rash’s body in the woods near the intersection of Doverside Drive and Oakview Drive in North Nashville on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. Investigators believe Rash may have died earlier in the week before being found. He did not have any identification on him at the time he was discovered. He was subsequently identified by the Davidson County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Rash was a resident of Nashville, Tennessee.

MNPD Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. Authorities noted that there are encampments of unhoused individuals in the general vicinity, but none were within the immediate proximity of where Rash was found.

No suspects have been identified or announced at this time. The investigation remains active and ongoing.

The wooded area near Doverside Drive and Oakview Drive is located in North Nashville, a historically significant and rapidly changing section of the city situated north of downtown Nashville and the Cumberland River. The area has experienced significant redevelopment pressure in recent years alongside persistent challenges related to homelessness, crime, and displacement of longtime residents. Doverside Drive and Oakview Drive are residential streets in the northern reaches of Davidson County, near the Dickerson Pike corridor — one of the city’s more heavily trafficked north-south arterials and a known location for street-level criminal activity.

Nashville is the capital city of Tennessee and the seat of Davidson County, with a consolidated metropolitan population exceeding 700,000 residents. The greater Nashville metropolitan statistical area encompasses Wilson, Williamson, Rutherford, Sumner, and Robertson counties and is home to approximately 2.1 million residents, making it one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the southeastern United States. The city is a major hub for the country music industry, healthcare, higher education, and tourism.

The Metro Nashville Police Department Homicide Unit is leading the investigation. Anyone with information about the death of Trevett Cole Rash is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers may remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward of up to $5,000.
