LA Woman Lauren Vaughn ID’d As Victim In Friday Night Bunkie Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash

AVOYELLES PARISH, LA. (THECOUNT) — Lauren C. Vaughn, of Alexandria, has been identified as the victim in a Friday night fatal vehicle crash in Avoyelles Parish.

Vaughn, 22, was killed in a single-vehicle crash near Bunkie Friday night. Christopher R. McCoy, 21, of Bunkie, has been identified as the involved driver.

According to reports McCoy was operating a GMC Sierra on LA-1176 near LA-29 in Eola, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle exited the roadway around 7:40 p.m. Friday. The vehicle then entered a culvert before coming into contact with a tree and rolling over.

Vaughn, a passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.

McCoy sustained moderate injuries in the wreck and was transported to an area hospital.

Investigators suspect impaired driving as a factor in the crash. Toxicology results are pending.

The investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.
