KENT COUNTY, MI. (THECOUNT) — Dean Elliott, of Byron Center, Michigan, has been identified as the victim in a Sunday morning wrong-way crash in Kent County.
Elliott, 63, was killed by an unidentified 30-year-old male Grand Rapids wrong-way driver in Grand Rapids Sunday morning.
According to reports, Elliott was operating a vehicle on US-131 in Grand Rapids near Burton Street SW, when the vehicle was struck by a wrong-way driver around 8:30 a.m. Sunday.
Elliott died of blunt force trauma injuries suffered in the wreck.
The wrong-way driver was hospitalized in critical condition.
Michigan State Police said alcohol is believed to be a factor in the deadly collision.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
