SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY. (THECOUNT) — Matthew Jay Conte, of Commack, New York, has been identified as the pedestrian in a Monday fatal vehicle strike in Suffolk County.
Conte, 36, was fatally struck by a vehicle in Commack Monday night.
According to reports, a 31-year-old Commack woman was operating a 2020 Volkswagen Atlas on near Conte’s Shaker Ridge Lane home, when Conte was struck by the vehicle around 6:10 p.m. Monday.
Conte was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.
The driver was transported to an area hospital for evaluation.
The Volkswagen was impounded for a safety check.
Detectives are asking anyone with possible information on the collision to contact the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
